DJ Osmose has been a BIG part of the Mode.Radio family since our inception in 2008. His range of DJ mixes from Disco to Reggae and everything else in between has been featured on this blog. It' been a while since we have featured him, so I decided to go to Soundcloud and see his latest.

This week only, Mode.Radio is featuring a mix everyday as a present to our fans. Our first feature is from one of Mode.Radio's favorite DJ's, Osmose. I have known Osmose since the early 2000's and the type of mixes that I fell the most in love with were is dub/reggae/roots mixes. So when I was looking at the Mode.Radio Soundcloud group and saw this mix that he did in November 2015, I was very excited.

Radio Ready--Osmose--Kiss of Life Sade Vinyl Tribute

For this episode of Radio Ready, we are featuring our old friend, DJ Osmose from Athens/Atlanta/Chattanooga area. Osmose has done several mixes for Mode.Radio, most notably his "Smoker's Lounge" collection. I've known Osmose for over 10 years and have seen him grown as a DJ. He specializes in bringing all sounds through vinyl, including roots reggae, disco, and more. In 2001, he sent me a mix he did totally dedicated to the music of Sade. This mix is an updated version of that mix with new remixes. There's no tracklisting, but if you are a Sade fan, you'll know the tracks. Enjoy!

Radio Ready--Ladymode--Snowbound Part 1

Greetings all!
I've been away this past month, vacationing around the area and having visitors during my Spring Break, but now I'm back with a new Radio Ready. It's been a while but I wanted to drop this mix I did in February called "Snowbound." I actually did 4 Snowbound mixes, which I will feature throughout this year.

"Snowbound" comes from being snowbound here in Nashville during February and March with nothing to do, especially when my daughter was napping. So I got some tunes together, played around with a couple of DJ apps, and created these mixes. The tracks kind of go all over the place, ranging from disco and soul to Hip-Hop and Electronica. Mode.Radio Weekly Mix #20--Osmose--Live at The Georgia Theatre Rooftop, Bootsy Collins afterparty

For our weekly mix, Mode.Radio is featuring a very dear friend of this blog, DJ Osmose!

I first met Osmose in Atlanta when I was working at WRAS 88.5 FM. He always had these amazing house, reggae, and dub mixes, some of which I still listen to today. Through our friendship, Osmose has played out in the SF Bay Area, plus in Hawaii, Mexico, and many other places. Now based in Athens, GA, Osmose has started his own label, Smokecloud Records and has maintained regular dates in Atlanta and Athens. This mix is from is rooftop sessions at the world-famous Georgia Theater in Athens. It was for a Bootsy Collins afterparty back in August of this year, so you know it has to be funky! Enjoy the rhythms and vibes!

The last time we heard from DJ Osmose, it was way back in 2011. I was re-inspired to keep Mode.Radio going because of this DJ and this mix. Smoker's Lounge Vol. 4 is a creative mix of Hip-Hop, Global, Irie, and Downtempo. Radio Ready--Osmose--Smoker's Lounge Vol. 3

Radio Ready is back with a mix from our friend, Atlanta DJ Osmose. Osmose has appeared on Mode.Radio numerous times and one of his best received mixes were his "Smoker's Lounge" series. Last month, Osmose recorded his latest and third installment of the "Smoker's Lounge." Volume 3 is an all vinyl mix of hazy classic & future classic Trip-Hop, Hip-Hop instrumentals and Downtempo joints. Enjoy!

A friend of Mode.Radio, Osmose has blessed us often in the last 3 years with Disco, Hip-Hop, and that dub reggae sound. This time, he's back with his mix "IndigoDISCO." Recorded in Summer 2010 while in Honolulu, Hawaii, this mix is a midtempo mix with such artist as Sleazy McQueen and Greg Wilson. The Stash 28--Osmose--Reality Shock Mix

Since "The Stash" is a show that features previously recorded mixes, we decided to use this short mix by our friend DJ Osmose that he used for REGGAE GOT TALENT COMPETITION in 2009 with Reality Shock Records & Forward FM. There is no tracklisting for this mix, sorry..:( Osmose has done many mixes for mode.radio over the years, in genres ranging from house, disco, hip-hop, reggae and more. Larry Heard, aka Mr. Fingers, is one of the pioneers of Chicago House Music. With hits including, "Can You Feel It", "Bring Down the Walls" (ft. Robert Owens), "What About this Love," Larry brought an element to the definitive house music sound that we are used to today. As a special treat to Mode.Radio, our friend DJ Osmose blessed us with his mix, the "Larry Heard Appreciation Mix" It's a Larry Heard appreciation mix, but instead of being all Larry Heard tracks it's more in the vein of the feel of a Larry Heard DJ mix...like the monthly's he used to do on the Alleviated Records website a few years back. mode.radio introduces it's new monthly series, Radio Ready. Radio Ready features DJs who have previously DJed on mode.radio and their new sets.
