Mode.Radio's Weekly Mix #65--Greg Wilson--Live at Music Room Atlanta May 2016

The past two weeks I've been driving from Nashville to Atlanta tending to my father's medical issues. It's a short trip compared to coming from Oakland to Atlanta and it gives a lot of time to think and listen to music. So this weekend for my drive I download this mix from my friends at The Music Room in Atlanta. This was a mix done during their 2 year anniversary event in May of this year and it's....sexy.

Very sexy, Disco sexy...just damn sexy.

The DJ is Greg Wilson. A legend in the electro scene since the 1980's and from Manchester, England, Greg has been heavily influenced by soul and disco and responsible for producing soul and hip-hop tracks in the 80's and 90's. He recently began to document the history and current state black music in England on his website ElectroFunkRoots and currently runs a blog called Being a DJ.

I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I did :)

Mode.Radio's Weekly Mix #45--Stan Zeff--Live at Music Room Atlanta, March 2015

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I'm a little sad this weekend because I wasn't able to make to Atlanta's annual House in the Park event yesterday. I had plans, but as with most Labor Day weekends, friends come in town and such.

What's House in the Park? It's an annual event featuring the best house DJs in the South, nationally, and Internationally. It started in Atlanta in 2005, and has grown to massive heights in the past 10 years.

So to cure my sadness, for the weekly mixes, I'm going to feature the deep house music that was played yesterday at the park during the month of September. My first artist is Stan Zeff.

Stan Zeff was born in London and currently lives in Atlanta. He frequently DJs throughout the states and in England. He's a part of the Tambor Party crew, playing shows in Atlanta, NYC, Detroit, Miami, and more.

This mix was done at Music Room 327 in Atlanta in March. There;s no tracklisting but it's full of deep house goodness.

Enjoy!

Mode.Radio's Weekly Mix #32--DJ Pierre and Doc Martin at The Music Room, Atlanta Feb. 21, 2015

Greetings Fam Bam,
For this next Mode.Radio Weekly Mix, I'm featuring this great 4 hour mix, released last week by The Music Room in Atlanta, by DJ Pierre and Doc Martin. This mix was done on February 21, 2015.

DJ Pierre helped to develop the house-music subgenre of acid house, as member of Phuture, whose 1987 EP Acid Tracks, which was called the first acid-house recording. DJ Pierre is considered a crucial DJ and the production wizard partly responsible for the development of Chicago acid-house. Hits that he has released include "Generate Power," "Follow Me," and "The Horn Song" (featuring Barbara Tucker).

Doc Martin represents LA and the West Coast sound. He started in 1986 playing in San Francisco with a mix of house, disco, and funk.  Doc is one of the most sought after DJs in America. Constantly touring, he can be found playing records everywhere from England to New Zealand, and everywhere in between. As the first West Coast DJ to ever hold many residencies in New York, he continues to spread the gospel according to Doc.

This set is being hailed as one of the best and as for the venue, The Music Room, this set is really putting the club on the map. Enjoy this mix!
