Mode.Radio's Weekly Mix #60-- Dubfire--Live at Ultra Music Fest--March 19, 2016

One of my favorite festivals, the Ultra Festival (coinciding with the Winter Music Conference) went down in Miami this past week. My days of going to Miami for the festival are over (yay, mommyhood...) but I still love hearing the sets that are coming up on line from the event.

It's been so long since we've had a good techno mix on Mode, so why not have one of the best, Dubfire? Dubfire was part of the duo Deep Dish. Born in Iran and raised in the US, Dubfire (Ali Shirazinia) started Deep Dish in 1991 with a more house sound. The group won a Grammy in 2002 for their remix of Dido's "Thank You." Dubfire started producing his own tracks in 2007 and has been out on his own since.

Mode.Radio Weekly Mix #49--Justin Bright--Nightmare on Edgewood 10/31/2015

I first met Justin Bright in 2001 when he was DJing drum 'n' bass in Atlanta and had played on my radio show "Subterranean" on WRAS 88.5 FM. A versatile DJ, Bright has played all kinds of genres in Atlanta, Colorado, and many other places. Justin has opened for artists such as Justice, Ferry Corsten, Josh Wink, Claude Von Stroke, Justin Martin, and Audiofly.

This mix was done on Halloween this year at The SoundTable in Atlanta and it' s a great set of techno loveliness. There's no tracklisting, but trust me, you will enjoy this!

Mode.Radio's Weekly Mix #27--BOg--Live mix on John Digweed's "Transitions" Episode #542

Happy MLK Holiday weekend! I hope its been a good one! This week, I stumbled upon this mix as I was relaxing after the MLK march here in Nashville. Relaxation was the key and this mix does that. This is Romania's BOg, who is currently based in Paris. He's a label mate of John Digweed, currently on Bedrock Music. This mix is from his appearance on John Digweed's "Transitions" radio show on January 16th. It's a very spacey techno vibe that will get you in the best of moods. Radio Ready--Kevin O--Sampson St. "Last Call"

In Atlanta, the parties at the Sampson St. Lofts in Old 4th Ward were notorious for many reasons. This summer, the last party EVER was held with some of the best DJs in the city coming out. We were able to get a great set from an old friend of Mode.Radio's, Kevin O! This is an unusual set because it's more techno than people are used to hearing from Kevin. There is no tracking listing, but it's a great set, so enjoy!

Debut Series 48-- Lady Eve--La Vida Bendecida

For our latest "Debut Series" we have another exclusive mix from our friend Lady Eve. This mix is from December 2010 and it's called "La Vida Bendecida." Recorded down in Mexico, it's a rare techno mix from Eve. Eve has done many mixes for us before. Based in Vancouver, Canada, she's an accomplished musician, DJ, and radio personality for such stations as WRAS Atlanta, WABE Atlanta, CBC Vancouver and CFRO Vancouver.

Debut Series 33--Le Roux--Show Me the Roof

Le Roux is a San Diego native who taught herself to DJ on some really crappy belt driven turn tables...that was 9 years ago and since then she's been playing parties and clubs around San Diego. Le Roux has also played in Las Vegas, Mexico and the Carribean. Her latest mix "Show Me the Roof" is a mixture of techno and trance goodness that's perfect for the summer.

Her favorite thing to do is have a rocking house party and invite her friends to come and play with her. Le Roux says, "When people dance is when I'm happiest. I love that ethereal connection that comes from being totally into what people are into...actually being able to change a mood with a song....to me, that is the art of the DJ." Agreed. Enjoy!

DJ and producer Poobah is gracing "The Stash" with his series of mixes called "Turkey Droppings." Poobah has 3 releases on Aerotecnica recordings, which he helped to start back in 2003. He also has releases under the Daydream outfit. He started dj'ing in 1993. His style has evolved over the years from trance to breakbeat and drum & bass to house to techno. Debut Series vol. 26--J.Rogers--Live at Bassism SF, Dec. 2009

This Debut Series is featuring SF' own J.Rogers and his set from Bassism in December 2009. JRogers is a graduate of music studies in composition, conducting, and piano and has hada life-long obsession for the production and performance of electronic/dance music. His diverse sets of dubstep, minimal/techno, tech house, and everything in between are well-known in the Bay Area. J.Rogers' productions are no different as he releases track after track of genre-bending originals and remixes, supported by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Dubfire, Headhunter, Laurent Garnier, DZ, Stacey Pullen, XI, Paco Osuna, and many more. He stays busy as a member of the Surya Dub crew, co-founder of San Francisco's Blipswitch.net online community, and labelhead of the Blipswitch Digital record label.
